VHP call for Srirangapatna Chalo! Tahsildar clamps prohibitory order till June 5

Mandya: Following the call given by Vishwa Hindu Parishat for Srirangapatna Chalo on Saturday from the circle to Jamia Masjid, the taluk administration has clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC from the evening of June 3, 6 PM to June 5, 12 noon.

According to Tahsildar Shweta N Ravindra the ban orders will be effective in Srirangapatna TMC limits covering Bannimantap on Mysuru road to Nimishamba temple, Ganjam, Paschima Vahini to Railway station.

According to the order, gathering of people five and above is not allowed, followed by use of public sound system, carrying weapons, making public announcements, provocative addresses disturbing law and order situation and related activities are prohibited.

Any violations will be strictly dealt under IPC section 188. However, the officers and staff involved in maintenance of law and order are exempted from action.

As a precautionary measure, the shandy organised on Saturday in the town has been postponed to Sunday, according to the chief officer of Srirangapatna TMC.

Along with this, Deputy Commissioner S Ashwathi has declared dry days from June 3, 6 PM to June 5, 6 AM.

All types of liquor vends in the radius of five km of Srirangapatna TMC shall remain closed, and supply, stock and distribution are also prohibited, stated a press release.
