Veerashaiva Mahasabha reminds CM Yediyurappa of pending demand for OBC tag

Bengaluru: While the state government has announced to constitute Karnataka Veerashaiva- Lingayat Development Corporation, the demand for bringing the community under other backward classes (OBC) is back.

Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha office-bearers led by their president Shamanur Shivashankarappa reminded Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa about the long pending demand.

A delegation of the Mahasabha which met the chief minister on Friday brought to his notice that ” We had earlier requested the government on August 19, 2019 to form a development corporation for the benefit of the community. Accordingly the orders have been issued and Mahasabha is grateful to the government. The community has a larger population with backward, poor and destitutes also. The government should release more grants according to the population and for the social, economic and educational development of such people”.

Likewsise, Mahasabha had also requested the governmenf to recommend centre to include Veerashaiva- Lingayat in the list of other backward classes. We hope that the government will fulfil the demand at the earliest”.

Mahasabha general secretary and MLA Eshwar Khandre was also present.
