Vandita Sharma new chief secretary to Government of Karnataka

Bengaluru: Vandita Sharma is the new Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka effective from June 1.

On Friday Deputy Secretary of Government, DPAR,  Dr Anandh K issued circular appointing Vandita Sharma as the new chief secretary. A 1986 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Vandita Sharma is succeeding P Ravikumar who is retiring from service on May 31.

She has been elevated from the post of additional chief secretary cum development commissioner to the chief secretary post.

Vandita is the fourth woman to decorate the top post in Karnataka. The previous chief secretaries among women are Teresa Bhattacharya, Malati Das and Rathna Prabha.

Vandita Sharma was the nodal officer of Covid-19 vaccination drive in Karnataka. She is currently the honorary chairperson of IAS officers Association Karnataka.

Vandita hails from Punjab and will attain superannuation in November 2023.
