1 min read

Mysuru: A heated debate over lacunae to be addressed in the ongoing covid vaccination drive was witnessed at Mysuru City Corporation council meeting on Tuesday.

The pandemonium began as a section of Corporators insisted on summoning District Health Officer Dr K H Prasad to the council meeting to clarify the queries.

This led to chaos as Corporators irrespective of Congress, JDS and BJP argued with each other over the distribution of adequate doses to meet the demand.

Congress Corporators Shantakumari, Ayub Khan and Arif Hussain criticised the state government for disparity in vaccine distribution.

While BJP Corporators Sunanda Palanethra and Subbaiah dismissed the charges and defended the state government.

JDS Corporator SBM Manju spoke on the token system to avail of vaccine at Charaka Hospital in Chamaraja constituency.

Vaccine centers are witnessing a huge rush  while the shortage of vaccine is crippling the system, at the cost of public, the Corporators alleged.

It was the maiden council meeting for acting Mayor Anwar Baig and Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner G Lakshmikantha Reddy.
