V Somanna, Minister of State for Railways inspects Raichur, Yadgir Railway stations

Mysuru: V Somanna, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, inspected the Raichur Railway station, Rail Coach Factory, Yadgir and Yadgir Railway station on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

Neeraj Agrawal, Additional General Manager, SCR, C Madhusudhan Rao, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, M Vijay Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Guntakal Division and other railway officials were present during the inspection.



Somanna inspected the Raichur Railway station on Tuesday and reviewed ongoing station redevelopment works under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The officials briefed about the various developmental works and facilities to be provided at this railway station.

Somanna told media persons that Indian Railways has taken up a prestigious scheme of Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for redeveloping the Railway stations.

Raichur railway station is identified for redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with an estimated cost of Rs 11.49 crore in which it is being upgraded with state of art facilities and passenger amenities. The station will be further developed with an estimated cost Rs 100 crore. The local architecture will be incorporated in designs of station façade.

Somanna visited the Rail Coach Factory, Yadgir which is the first production unit of South Central Railway.

The Minister was briefed by the officials about the factory which has been set up at a cost of Rs 80 crore to manufacture 600 FIAT Bogie Frames per annum which are the main components in the production of LHB coaches.

He also inspected various manufacturing units and interacted with the staff and enquired about the technicalities involved and safety measures followed.

Somanna inspected the Yadgir Railway station on Wednesday and reviewed ongoing station redevelopment works under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The station is identified for redevelopment under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with an estimated cost of Rs 7.7 crore.

Concluding the inspection, the Minister took rear window inspection of Yadgir-Wadi-Vikarabad and Secunderabad section. During the inspection, he observed safety aspects of tracks, signalling systems, curves, bridges etc., along with the senior railway officials.
