UoM faculty wins NASI young scientist award

Mysuru: Dr Mohan C D an assistant professor at the University of Mysore has been selected for national academy of sciences India ( NASI)- young scientist platinum jubilee awards- 2019.

He is the assistant professor at the department of studies in molecular biology, at the varsity. He works under the supervision of Prof K S Rangappa a former VC of University of Mysore, on the discovery of small molecule modulators of cancer cell death.

Rangappa and his team recently published their findings in internationally reputed journals such as proceedings of the academy of sciences, USA and iScience.

NASI award is given in recognition of promise, creativity and excellence in young scientists under the age group of 35 years. It is also for first time a faculty of the universities in the State has been selected for the award by NASI a first science academy in the country set up in 1930.

It is funded by the department of science and technology.
