‘Unleash 22: Focus is to achieve Sustainability on the blue planet’

Mysuru: The Palace City is all set to witness a week long global event UNLEASH-22 (innovation lab for sustainable development) starting from Saturday.
The event with an objective to make the blue planet more sustainable would be held at Infosys campus.This focusses on developing innovative and scalable solutions to address the United Nations sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Dr C N Ashwath Narayan Minister of IT/BT, said on Friday, “The event which would attract participation of 993 talents from across the globe (101 countries) will work towards finding workable solutions in areas related to Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean energy, Climate Action, Life below water and Life on land.”
Out of the total 993 participants 515 are from foreign countries and 478 are from India. The number of talents from Karnataka is 109 which includes 90 from start-up city Bengaluru and 19 from locations ‘Beyond Bengaluru’.
The goal of the event is to advance ideas and solutions through the UNLEASH innovation process ultimately leading to the implementation of solutions that can help address the sustainable development goals, Narayan explained.

During the lab participants learn to frame a problem, create new ideas, develope early stage prototypes and test those prototypes with potential users. They work together in small teams and by the end of the week the teams would have an innovative prototype that addresses specific sustainable development goal challenge challenge.
Dr E V Ramana Reddy ACS, Department of IT/BT said, since 2017, UNLEASH has gathered 5,000 talents from 167 countries and developed 800 tangible solutions towards achieving sustainable development goals and has established association with more than 350 organisations across sectors.
Múte Bourup Egede, Prime Minister of Greenland would address the gathering in the opening ceremony through video message on Saturday afternoon.
Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Prof Flemming, Chairman, UNLEASH, Sumith Virmani, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, Infosys, E V Ramana Reddy, ACS, Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Dr Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the erstwhile Mysuru royal family, will be gracing the occasion.
