Universities must engage in vaccine related researches: Nitte University VC

Dakshina Kannada: “Universities must give importance to vaccine related researches in this time of Covid-19 pandemic spread,” said Nitte Deemed University Vice-Chancellor Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary.

Bhandary was speaking after inaugurating  inter-collegiate debate competition on Covid-19 Pandemic management (Medical Oxygen, treatment and Vaccine problem) organised by the University.

He pointed that “Colleges and Universities should engage in research activities. It includes social responsibility, lecturers and students should take part in such initiatives in their academics,” he said.

Across the globe including India, a lot of efforts are put into research for vaccine to address the biggest humanitarian crisis. If students engage in research they will get better future. If the colleges are engaged in constructive activities, it is good and must continue, Prof Bhandary stated.

K S Hegde Medical College’s Anesthesia department faculty Dr Sripad G Mehandale, Nitte University Science Education and Research Institute’s Dr Anirban Chakrabarti and Nursing College lecturer Dr Jesintha Vaigas participated as judges.

A B Shetty Memorial Dental College’s Dr Resinta L Kystalino moderated the competition.

IIC Chairman Professor G Shriniketan invited the guests. Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Pharmacy College’s Vivek Pai and Dr Vijay Kumar were present.
