Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna holds meeting in Hassan

Hassan: Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, conducted a review of ongoing infrastructure projects at Hassan and Chikkamagaluru Railway stations over Mysuru Division.
These stations are being redeveloped under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with a focus on long-term planning and enhancement of passenger amenities.
MP Shreyas Patel and Deputy Commissioner C Sathyabhama reviewed the the ongoing works that include improvements to the waiting hall, concourse and platform toilets, construction of a porch, a 12m wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) equipped with 2 lifts and 2 escalators, full-length platform shelters, landscaping, parking areas, and various amenities such as Public Announcement systems, clocks, electrical works for illumination signage, along with provisions for Divyangjan facilities are underway.
In Chikkamagaluru, similar amenity works are progressing, including improvements to waiting areas, platform facilities, construction of a porch and Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with lifts and escalators, as well as landscaping and parking development. Significant progress has been made in areas like approach roads and platform shelters.
Minister Somanna also reviewed the progress of the New Broad Gauge alignment project between Chikmagaluru and Belur, covering a 22 km stretch with the overall project cost estimated at ₹290.09 Crore.
The initial phase from Chikkamagaluru to Hadihalli (9 km) is being executed incurring an expenditure of Rs 133.75 Crore and is targeted for completion by the end of 2024. The Second phase from Hadihalli to Belur (13Km) with the project cost of Rs 190 crore is targeted for completion by 2026.
The third and final phase of the project between Belur – Hassan (Alur) 27 km of railway line with an estimated expenditure of Rs 748.85 crore is targeted for execution by 2027.
The Minister also inspected the Hadihalli railway station building, which is under construction, and emphasized the importance of maintaining quality standards and adhering to timelines to prevent cost overruns.
