“Narendra Modi government is working in line with Ambedkar’s vision”

Mandya/Malavalli: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H D Kumaraswamy, stated that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government is functioning in accordance with the constitutional ideals of Dr B R Ambedkar.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Buddha Ambedkar Mahadwara,’ constructed in Kalkuni village, Malavalli Taluk, the Minister lauded the meaningful design of the gateway, calling it a “symbol of an equitable society.”

“Historically, Ambedkar faced significant injustices. The central government is working to rectify those wrongs and ensure that Baba Saheb is remembered for generations to come,” he added.

Former PM Deve Gowda’s contributions to dalits

Kumaraswamy highlighted several initiatives introduced by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda for the welfare of Dalits.

“Deve Gowda implemented numerous impactful schemes for Dalit upliftment, including the Ganga Kalyana scheme, which helped countless individuals. As a minister, Chief Minister and Prime Minister, he made significant contributions to the welfare of Dalits,” he said.

He also pointed out that reservation benefits were initially limited to assembly and parliamentary constituencies.

“It was Deve Gowda who extended these benefits to local bodies, including district and taluk panchayats. For instance, in Hassan, he appointed a Dalit youth with a postgraduate degree as the president of the Zilla Panchayat. Deve Gowda recognised educated individuals from grassroots communities and empowered them,” he noted.

Community Development in Kalkuni Village

During the event, villagers requested the construction of a community hall. The Minister responded positively, promising immediate approval for the hall’s construction.

He instructed former MLA Dr K Annadani to work with villagers to identify a suitable site for the project.

Former MLA Dr K Annadani, Zilla Panchayat President Zakriya Khan, Youth JDS leader Suhas, former Gram Panchayat member Nanjunda Swamy, Mallu and former BSP Taluk President Chinnaswamy were present at the event.
