Bengaluru: In the wake of possible implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the country, office bearers of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday.

The AIMPLB office-bearers discussed about the effects if the Uniform  Civil Code is implemented and the conspiracy behind the move.

They also expressed their fears over how it may topple the values of constitution, democracy  and secular fabric of the country. It will deprive tribals, dalits and minorities of their rights.

Former Union Minister K Rahman Khan, KPCC Working President Salim Ahmed, Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan and several other Muslim leaders were present during the meeting.

In a recent address at BJP booth workers meeting in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had hinted about bringing the Uniform Civil Code.

The Uniform Civil Code is one of the pet decisions of the BJP led Government at the Centre.

Recently the 22nd Law Commission of India issued a public notice on June 15 seeking comments on Uniform Civil Code from political parties, general public and others, within 30 days.

While the previous 21st Law Commission of India in 2018, had observed that ‘UCC was neither necessary nor desirable at this stage.’ The observation was based on two years of exercise of wide consultations and 75,000 responses.’
