Udupi: Suo motu complaint lodged in Malpe station over nursing college filming incident

Udupi: A suo-motu complaint on the Udupi Netra Jyothi Nursing College’s filming incident has been filed in Malpe police station in Udupi district against three students. The complaint names three girl students Shabanaz, Alfiya and Alima as the accused who allegedly kept a mobile phone in the restroom allegedly to take pictures of girls from other community. The complaint also has accused the college administration committee along with the three accused.
Besides, the complaint also names Kal Singh Chouhan for sharing the purported video – allegedly shot in the college’s restroom – on social media handles.
However, Udupi SP Hakay Akshay Machhindra, on Tuesday said that there was no trace of usage of hidden camera or any such device as being alleged. “Neither we nor our sources are aware of such activity. Also, no such video could be found circulating on social media. Clarification has been issued in this regard,” he said and requested if anyone finds the video to bring it to the police notice.
Meanwhile, National Commission for Women member and actor Khushboo is visiting Udupi to take stock of the situation.
