UAE President and Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s death: Government of India declares one-day state mourning

Mysuru: The Government of India has declared one day mourning in respect of United Arab Emirates President and Abu Dhabi ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who passed away on Friday.

As a mark of respect to the departed dignitary, the Government of India has decided to observe a day’s State Mourning throughout India on Saturday.

On the day of mourning the National Flag will be flown at half-mast, where it is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment on the day, according to a notification issued by joint secretary, union ministry of home affairs.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, UAE has mourned to the UAE people, Arab and Islamic nations and the world the death of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

The ministry announced 40 days of mourning, with flags at half-mast from Friday and works suspended in public and private sectors for the first three days.

Sheikh Khalifa took over as the UAE’s second president in November 2004, succeeding his father as the 16th ruler of Abu Dhabi, the richest of the federation’s seven emirates.
