Two wild elephants spotted at Cauvery backwaters in KR Pet

Mandya: Two wild elephants have been spotted around the villages of Kurubarahalli Belathur, Sangapura, Kallahalli, Bhuvarahanathaswamy Temple, Mavinakere in K R Pet taluk of Mandya district and are camping in the Cauvery backwater area.
KR Pet Range Forest officers and staff of Mandya Forest Division, KR Nagar Range staff and Elephant Task Force and Hunsur staff are carrying out the operation to drive the elephants back to forest.
There is a possibility that the elephants may be distracted by activities such as public going near them, shouting, bursting firecrackers, scaring and taking photographs of the elephants.
Deputy Conservator of Forests of Mandya Division, has appealed to the public to cooperate with the Forest Department until the said elephants return to the forest.
