Mysuru: In separate cases, two tigers were found dead in Nagarahole and Bandipur National Tiger Reserve Forests on Thursday.
The carcass of around 6-7 year old male tiger was found near Anechowkur range at Nagarahole National tiger Reserve Forest.
It was found at elephant proof trench close to Mattigodu and Nagarahole, with the officials confirming it as a case of natural death.
Nagarahole Field Director Mahesh Kumar and ACF Sathish visited the spot and cremated the carcass as per NTCA protocol.
Similarly 8-9 year old tigress was found dead near Gundre range of Hediyala sub division of Bandipur National Tiger Reserve Forest. The tigress was first recorded at the same range in 2015 and again in 2019-20 in camera trap.
The cause of death is suspected by visible evidence as hepatitis, as tooths had turned yellow.
Bandipur Forest Veterinarian Dr Wasim Mirza and wildlife activists rushed to spot and cremated as per NTCA protocol.
