Troubling tusker of Suntikoppa finally captured

1 min read

Kodagu: A tusker that had been a headache in Suntikoppa and Kedakal range in Kodagu district for the past one week has finally been captured on Wednesday.

The tusker had recently attacked forester Girish, who died later. Earlier in the week, the tusker had attacked three people in a single day – including Girish – at Kedakal limits. After it killed forester Girish, who worked in Rapid Response Team, the forest department had been striving to capture the rogue tusker.

The tusker has destroyed several crops including pepper in coffee estates. It would also attack bike riders in and around Suntikoppa. In many coffee plantations workers were scared to venture out in the plantation as the tusker had been roaming.

Finally, with the help of elephants Harsha, Prashanth, Ajay, Lakshmana and Vikrama from Dubare elephant camp and about 100 forest personnel have managed to capture the elephant.
