Mandya: Four days after the triple murder at Arkeshwara Swamy temple on September 11, the Mandya police have arrested three suspects in Maddur.
The policemen had to open fire, as the suspects dared the men in khaki by launching an attack on them.
Viji, 23 years of Andhra Pradesh, Gandhi, 26 of Arekal Doddi in Maddur and Manju, 30 years of Toppanahalli are those arrested persons.
They were in a hideout at Sadolalu village in Maddur taluk. Acting on definite clues, a police team led by PSI Sharat Kumar raided the hideout only to face resistance from the trio. They attacked policemen with stones and knife, forcing the latter to open fire in their self-defence.
They shot the three below the knee, before overpowering them.
PSI Sharat Kumar, ASI Krishna Kumar and Head Constable Anil also sustained injuries.
While the police were treated for their injuries at Maddur hospital, the three are admitted at Mandya Institute Of Medical Sciences (MIMS) Hospital.
It can be recalled that, Ganesh, Prakash and Anand were found murdered at the temple premises on September 11.
The suspects had dropped boulders on their face, when the victims were fast asleep, killing them on the spot.
