To nip Corona in the bud, rapid antigen tests to be extended to other localities: DC

2 min read
Mysuru: Aiming to ensure early identification of Covid-19 cases and check related deaths in the district, the authorities are mulling over extending rapid antigen tests to different parts of the city.
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar said “while the tests are underway at N R Assembly constituency, we are also planning to extend to few more densely populated localities like Kailasapuram in Chamaraja Assembly constituency, Nachanahalli Palya in Krishnaraja Assembly constituency, followed by Mandi Mohalla and Lashkar Mohalla.
“The tests have been increased up to 1,200 in Mysuru and barely 15 to 20 per cent of positive cases are reported. After Bengaluru, Mysuru and a couple of other districts got more number of rapid antigen test kits”, said DC.
Reacting to the recent incident where a person suspected to have contracted the virus had given his (DC) cell phone number, DC said ” I am at least happy that the system is in place, as tracing and tracking is being conducted in a foolproof manner”.
The DC also clarified that the prankster is not a Covid patient, but was in the primary contact of a patient.
As many as 200 workers of J K Tyres are tested positive and they are being treated by a private hospital with whom they have a tie up. The hospital has arranged a hotel to keep them under isolation. On the other hand, there is an increase in cases of home isolation.
DC appealed to the people having symptoms to voluntarily get themselves tested, as even the private hospitals are being provided rapid antigen kits.
DC acknowledged that he is aware of the complaints of non- Covid patients at the hospitals and will be shortly convening a meeting to sort out the issues.
