Tigress found dead in Bandipur forest! Autopsy finds fight with bison as cause

Mysuru: A tigress aged about 9-10 years was found dead in Bandipur Tiger Reserve Forest on Tuesday.

Following the autopsy, the big cat was found to have died due to the injuries suffered in fighting with a bison.

A forest beat staff spotted the carcass near Uppanir Halla leading to Bettada Kere and informed the officials. Upon closer examination, it came to be known as a female tiger.

Bandipur Tiger Reserve Forest veterinarian Dr Wasim Mirza performed the autopsy and ascertained the cause of death.

The carcass was cremated as per National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) protocol.

Bandipur Field Director Dr Natesh, ACF Sumeeth Kumar, Bandipur range officer Muniraju and wildlife warden Kruthika Alanahalli were present.
