Mysuru: In yet another reminder of the big cat attack, a seven-year-old boy became a victim of tiger attack, this time at Metikuppe range on Monday.
The boy identified as Charan was taking a rest under a tree when the tiger pounced on him and dragged him to some distance. Charan’s father Krishnakar, a resident of Kallahatti village, H D Kote taluk was working in a farm when the tiger dragged his son’s body. Krishnakar was too shocked to do anything as the tiger ate on his son’s body. The badly mutilated body of Charan has been found near the farm.
The incident has sent shockwaves among the residents here who are now scared to come out, even during daylight.
Heggadadevana Kote Banjara community leader Krishna Nayak has blamed the forest department for the death of Charan. “In spite of repeated complaints by the villagers about frequent attacks of tiger in the vicinity, the forest department did nothing. Today, Krishnakar has lost his son. The forest department must be blamed for this tragedy,” Nayak said demanding compensation to the victim’s family.
