Three zoos reopen! Hampi zoo receives 50 visitors on first day

Bengaluru: After a gap of two months, three zoos in the state have opened doors for visitors.

Atal Bihari Vajapayee Zoological Park at Kamalapura in Hampi, Kittur Rani Chennamma Mini Zoo, Bhutaramanahatti, Belagavi and Gadag zoo opened to a good response.

The Atal Bihari Vajapayee Zoological Park known as Hampi Zoo attracted 50 visitors on the first day.

In the recent drive to encourage animal adoption, Hampi Zoo received Rs 6.21 lakh from 296 people who adopted various animals till June 21, Belagavi zoo- Rs 7.73 lakh from 326 people and Gadag zoo- Rs 5.9 lakh from 349 people.

As a precaution against Covid-19, thermal scanning and sanitiser facilities are made at zoos.

All the nine zoos in the state were closed two months ago due to surge in Covid cases in second wave. Following the unlock measures, three zoos have reopened now.
