Mysuru: The fear over Delta Variant (B.1.617.2) of Novel Coronavirus seems to stay for some more time, with three cases reported in the district.

Those infected are already cured of the virus. Two were treated in home isolation, while one was successfully treated at a Covid Care Centre, DHO Dr K H Prasad told media persons on Thursday.

Denying the case of Delta Plus Variant (B.1.617.2.1) a mutant strain of Delta, DHO said ” their samples had been collected on May 28 and sent for genome sequencing at a laboratory. All these three cases are confirmed for Delta Variant.”

The action has been taken to track and identify the contacts of these three cases. More details are expected by evening, said DHO.

On Wednesday, first case of Delta Plus Variant was reported in the district. In that case too, the infected had got cured of virus and discharged a month ago. But the report of genome sequencing was received recently, adding to cause for concern.

Since two days four samples are confirmed for the new variants of concern, which were not reported in Mysuru. All the samples were collected in May and are out of danger.

With this, the district administration is now facing a new challenge in Delta Plus Variant.
