Three arrested near H D Kote for trying to sell Whale vomit!

Mysuru: Three persons have been arrested for trying to sell Ambergris also called ‘floating gold’ (whale vomit) near H D Kote Handpost, recently. The police have seized 9 kg 821 gm of ambergris from the arrested, according to a press release issued by the Superintendent of Police, Seema Latkar.

Following directions from SP Seema Latkar and Additional SP Dr Nandini B N, the police held the accused from near the Indian Hotel, Handpost, H D Kote. The arrested have been produced before the court and have been sent to judicial custody. The police have registered a case against them. Sale of Ambergris is prohibited under The Wildlife (Protection) Act of 1972. Ambergris is a waxy solid and combustible substance and it is believed to have a high medicinal value. Besides, it is huge in demand. It is said that it has a huge value in the international market.

SP Seema Latkar has commended the services of Police Inspectors Shabbir Hussein (H D Kote), Purushottam and police staff Mahadevaswami, Syed Kabiruddin, Mohan, Sunil, Yogesh, Kiran Kumar, Ritish Kumar, Manjunath S, Manjunath B V and Rangaswamy.
