Owing to Covid norms, the district administration restricted the entry of devotees and after 11 am devotees were not allowed to go to the shrine.

It is believed that Goddess Cauvery gives darshan to devotees every year on October 17.

Devotees going towards Talacauvery

This year as predicted by the priests, teertodbhava occurred exactly at 1.11 pm. Temple head priest Gururaj Achar and 10 priests performed puja rituals.

Every year at least 50,000 to one lakh devotees from state and Tamil Nadu visit the pilgrimage centre. But this year the footfalls of devotees from state and other parts were less.

Goddess Cauvery is the house deity of Kodavas, the inhabitants of Kodagu.

Devotees take holy dip after the teertodbhava in the pond beside kundike and carry holy water home. But owing to Covid, authorities made tight security arrangements and did not allow devotees to take holy dip. However, devotees were allowed to collect holy water in bottles and cans.

Mandya district minister Narayana gowda, Kodagu-Mysuru MP Pratap simha, Madikeri MLA M P Appachu ranjan, Virajpet MLA K G Bopaiah, MLC Veena Achaiah and others were present.
