Mysuru: As the heat over suicide of acting health officer of Nanjangud taluk Dr S R Nagendra continues, an audio clip, purportedly believed to be of the conversation between Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and Nagendra has gone viral, putting the former in spotlight.

In the clip, the deputy commissioner is heard to be instructing Nagendra to conduct Covid tests to meet the target of 150 tests per day.

Amid this Nagendra is heard saying “the tests are conducted at primary health centre…”

The deputy commissioner is also heard suggesting Nagendra to arrange for tests at market and other places to enable a large number of people to avail the facility.

The deputy commissioner who seems to have had lost his cool during the course of conversation is heard saying- Are you (officials) playing with my patience. I would have agreed if you had conducted 100 tests, but only 20 to 25 tests per day for the past one week.

In the beginning of the conversation in audio clip- DC questions “Is the kit ( Covid testing kits) given to play games…?

It may be recalled that the doctors who have been on strike from the past three days from August 20 have been venting their ire on outgoing ZP CEO Prashanth Kumar Mishra, demanding for his suspension.

While the government issued his transfer order on Saturday.

Mishra is also booked under abetment to suicide (IPC section 306) for exerting pressure on Nagendra to achieve the target, on the basis of a complaint filed by Nagendra’s father at Alanahalli police station.
