Theatre artiste Vikram dies of Covid at 37

Mysuru: ‘Malegalalli Madhumagalu’ fame theatre artiste Vikram (Vikki) passed away due to Covid-19 at Bannur in the district on Tuesday. He was 37.

Rangayana’s Ranga Shikshana qualified theatre artiste Vikram had acted in poet laureate Kuvempu’s magnum opusĀ  Malegalalli Madhumagalu adapted into theatre. The nine-hour long play was directed by C Basavalingaiah for Rangayana several years ago.

Vikram also worked as a mentor for Maja Bharatha comedy show and also performed in short movies and directed plays for college students. He was a drama teacher at a private School in Jayalakshmipuram.

Vikram tested positive four days ago and had isolated himself at Sosale Mutt in T Narasipura. As he experienced breathing problem, he went to a clinic, where the doctor suggested him to shift to hospital as his saturation level was down. Within hours of shifting to hospital, Vikram breathed his last.

Unfortunalty his father has also tested positive and is on ventilator support.

Vikram was the sole breadwinner for the family as his brother committed suicide few years ago. His parents were planning for his marriage, but unfortunately the fate had willed otherwise.

Vikas Chandra a friend of Vikram recalled the latter as a good man with positive approach. However, a minute negligence of health cost his life, Vikas rued.
