The map that widened the gap! The pressure cooker of ‘fissure’ heated up over ‘red map’

1 min read

Mysuru: The alleged ‘cold war’ between Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shilpa Nag and Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri seems to have hit nadir, hours before the former announced her resignation from the civil services.

What actually was the flash point?

According to the sources close to MCC Commissioner, ” The animosity between the two IAS officers escalated soon after a ward wise map of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) affected by Covid-19 pandemic was released to the media on Thursday at around 1.26 pm. According to the map, dated June 1, most of the 65 wards were marked red. A day before that, on May 31, MCC Commissioner had released a map, where majority wards were in green, with only two wards in red.”

Shilpa Nag who explained her ordeal at the hands of Deputy Commissioner, points out at both the maps, alleging how the MCC was wrongly portrayed, putting the blame on officials and Corporators as doing nothing to control the pandemic.

” A fearful atmosphere is created with this map,” alleged Shilpa Nag, showing the map with most wards marked red with active cases as on June 1.

Sources say, it was this map that acted as a spur, with MCC Commissioner scribbling her resignation letter, in haste, with a heavy heart.
