48 corporators from Mysuru in Indore to study waste management

Mysuru: A team of 48 corporators from Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) led by Mayor Shivakumar and Deputy Mayor Roopa G visited CMD plant, Bio-CNG Plant and STP Plants in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

The team which includes MCC environmental engineer, mayor secretary left Mysuru on Monday to study techniques and strategies of waste management in Indore.

The Indore City Municipal Corporation has been winning the award as India’s Cleanest City for six consecutive years. The City collects more than 1,000 tons of garbage everyday and it is handled effectively by segregating it in six categories at collection point. Notably, the City is garbage bin-free and it generates 1,200 tons of dry waste and 700 tons of wet waste, daily.

Apart from waste management techniques, the team will also exchange ideas on facilities extended to pourakarmika workers, process of recycling, methods of segregation, producing compost, revenue collection and usage of advanced technologies in supplying piped gas.

It will also deliberate on methods of sustaining technologies in waste management that has helped the city bag cleanest city ranking for six consecutive years.
