Mysuru: While Covid- 19 induced crises had already disrupted normal life, heavy downpour in the recent days has made it further worse.

Worst affected are the students who are deprived of regular schooling due to the fear of virus and floods.

In this backdrop a group of teachers at Lakshmanatheerta educational Institutions at Hangod hobli in Hunsur have adopted a novel idea to ensure that their students should not miss their classes.

Students attend tution conducted by the teachers of Lakshmanatheerta Educational Institutions at Hangod hobli in Hunsur.

The teachers led by Nataraj have launched home tution aiming to cover students spread in over 20 villages in the hobli.

As part of the initiative, they have been visiting the villages of students and are conducting home tutions. The students will be gathered at a place to ensure that the social distance is maintained as a precaution against pandemic.

The teachers who were most concerned about the students who have already lost five months of schooling due to Covid-19 discussed about the idea of home tution with the management. The management agreed in the interest of the students as the school was supposed to reopen in June.

More than that, what prompted the teachers is the lack of facilities in rural parts for the students to access online classes.

Forget smart phones, internet connectivity with assured speed is another reason that has kept most of the students away from online mode of education, with the villages here located on the forest fringes.
