2 min read

Mysuru: These are difficult times for teachers and schools. With the uncertainties surrounding the re-opening dates of the schools, fee collections at all-time lows, and the schools taking the online route, the pandemic has changed the teaching profession forever.

The past few months have demonstrated the enormous creative potential in our teacher community and the committed to ensure continual learning among the students. SVYM salutes these efforts of the teachers and wishes the teachers a Happy Teachers’ Day.

SVYM aims to develop the human and social capital to build a resurgent India and endorses the NEP 2020’s aim to re-establish teachers, at all levels, as the most respected and essential members of our society, because they truly shape our next generation of citizens. It must do everything to empower teachers and help them to do their job as effectively as possible. SVYM through its training and consultancy programs has been constantly working on building the capacities of teachers and schools to be able to offer inclusive & equitable quality education.

SVYM started Guru Manthan in 2019 to celebrate the best classroom practices of teachers and create a platform for educationists to share, discuss & debate ideas and practices from across the world. Guru Manthan 20202021 has been expanded to include 50 lectures & discussions – one every Saturday from 1st August. These lectures are conducted online and free for all teachers and general public to attend.

Dr Gururaj Karajagi, Prof M K Sridhar, T S Krishnamurthy, Anurag Behar and Dr Akanksha Bapna delivered the lectures so far on diverse topics from the role of teachers during the COVID outbreak to unpacking 21st century skills in our schools.

As a part of the series, Dr K Kasturirangan has agreed to address the teachers on Teachers’ Day (5th Sept, 11 am – 12 pm). His talk titled, “Teacher – The Heart of the Matter” shall be followed by an interactive session with teachers. Schools can register and beam this lecture live in their campuses for teachers.

Teachers are also encouraged to send their questions to us over Email (praveen@svym.org.in) or WhatsApp (+91 95919 45162) before 3rd Sept 2020. Selected teachers will be given an opportunity to directly ask questions.
