‘Taledanda’ with Sanchari Vijay in lead role sent for international film festivals

Mysuru: While actor Sanchari Vijay is battling for life at a hospital in Bengaluru, here is a piece of good news that awaits movie buffs.  

“Taledanda” a Kannada movie with Sanchari Vijay playing lead role has been sent to International Film festivals, but awaits screening due to Covid-19 pandemic.

It will be another turning point in Vijay’s career as the film crew is hopeful of the actor bagging yet another award, according to its director Praveen Krupakar, who is the assistant professor in film division at University of Mysore.

Praveen Krupakar ( in grey beard) has also produced the film under Krupanidhi Films.

Sanchari Vijay has enacted the role of a mentally challenged tribal youth, who fights for environment for posterity.

Recalling how Vijay moulded himself to get into the skin of the character, Krupakar said “He learnt many slangs of Soliga tribe and the movie was mainly shot in the hamlets at Mysuru and Chamarajanagar.

Praveen Krupakar told Mysoorunews.com “for two long years Vijay prepared himself for Taledanda. His role has come out well and Mangala a renonewd theatre personality (wife of actor Rangayana Raghu) has played Vijay’s mother in the movie, Praveen told.

Mangala is the founder of Sanchari theatre troupe, with which Vijay is also associated with and also made name as Sanchari Vijay.

 ‘Taledanda’ has already been sent for more than 16 International Film Festivals all over the world. Besides, it is also sent for National Award of Indian films. It will also be sent for Karnataka State Films Award, said Krupakar.

Prominent among the film festivals are-
Locarno International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, London International Film Festival, New York International Film Festival, Taiwan International Film Festival, Green International Film Festival, Planet in Focus Environmental International Film Festival, Kaula Lumpur Eco International Film Festival, Cannes International Film Festival
National Awards, Bangalore International Film Festival and others.

The film also stars- B Suresh, Mandya Ramesh, Ramesh Pandit, Chaitra, Rajesh Rao and others.

The technical team is as follows- Editor BS Kemparaju, DoP Ashok Cashyap and Music Hari-Kavya.
