Tala Cauvery, Bhagamandala! Restrict tourists, don’t permit any resort, homestay, demands Kodava Samaja

1 min read

Kodagu: Federation of Kodava Samaja Association has resolved to put up an united fight to protect the sanctity of Tala Cauvery and Bhagamandala as shrines.

In a recent meeting at Balagodu Samaja, the federation has decided to take a delegation to the chief minister and deputy commissioner to restrict tourist entry to both the places of religious importance and issue orders that “Tala Cauvery and Bhagamandala are places of religious importance only”.

It is imperative to convince the government that the area around these shrines are not meant for any fun and frolicking. Most importantly they are not for tourist interest, it was discussed in the meeting.

A meeting of all religion leaders should be convened before Sankramana at Tala Cauvery, to arrive at a consensus.

It was also decided in the meeting to urge the chief minister not to permit any home stays or resorts in the radius of eight kilometres of these places of religious interest.

In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, it was decided not to organise ‘Kodava Namme’ this year.

The meeting was chaired by Kallichanda Vishnu Cariappa. Vice- presidents Malechira Abhimanyu Kumar, Konganda S Devaiah and Mukkateera T Nanaiah and Secretary Vaterira Shankari Poovaiah were present.
