Symposium on Business Services and Operations held at SDMIMD 

Mysuru: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute of Management Development (SDMIMD) organised a symposium on ‘Business Services and Operations’ at its auditorium.

Delivering inaugural address S N Prasad, Director of SDMIMD emphasised the growing importance of AI in manufacturing and services, highlighting the essential skills business school students must acquire to thrive in a technology-driven corporate environment.

Delivering keynote address Abhijith M K, CEO of iiiQ, shed light on the evolution of Industry 4.0 and automation.

He discussed the transformative impact of technology on companies and the varying levels of automation across sectors.

Panel discussion on “Industry 4.0 in Business Operations and Services: Opportunities and Challenges.”

The panel featured industry experts, including Hariharamahadevan, Director-Manufacturing at Schneider Electric Ltd; Kochat Narendran, President of Afcom Logistics; and Rishu Kumar, National Business Manager at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank.

The session was moderated by Dr Anand Sasikumar. Panelists delved into the role of IoT, AI and data analytics in driving operational excellence across sectors.

They also discussed regulatory and compliance challenges in adopting Industry 4.0 technologies and highlighted the increasing focus on sustainability, where technology acts as a catalyst.

The discussion concluded with an emphasis on balancing automation with retaining a human touch in business operations.

The event also featured an expert talk by Naveen Kollatur, COO of Driver Logistics, who explored the concept of a circular supply chain and its relevance across industries.

He elaborated on the customer perspective surrounding the principles of reuse, refurbish, and recycle, emphasising the importance of sustainability in modern business practices.

The symposium successfully brought together academicians, industry leaders and students to explore the transformative potential of emerging technologies in business services and operations.
