Mysuru: Even as various religious heads, especially Veerashaiva- Lingayat mutt seers are rallying behind incumbent Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, BJP MLC A H Vishwanath on Wednesday came down heavily on those in ochre.
Vishwanath who addressed media persons said ” I respectfully appeal to all the religious heads not to stand with any political party.”
Vishwanath strongly opposed the recent visits of scores of Swamijis to Yediyurappa only to extend their support in the wake of speculations over change in leadership in the State.
Vishwanath who chastised the seers and thier stand to support Yediyurappa, said “you all are proving to be a troublesome in the decent exit of Yediyurappa. Don’t come in the way of his retirement. Yediyurappa had twice served as chief minister earlier too, but didn’t get a decent send off. None us are above the Indian constitution and hence don’t stand with corruption,” Vishwanath said in his appeal to Swamijis.
Religious mutts should be a part of the society, not politics or power. By supporting Yediyurappa which message are you going to give in Karnataka? Vishwanath questioned the move of Swamijis.
Where were you when the state faced its critical times due to Covid? People struggled to save their lives, but why didn’t the seers step out to their rescue? Vishwanath questioned again.
“BJP has reached this level due to the contributions of leaders like late A K Subbaiah, B B Shivappa and former chairman of State Legislative Council D H Shankaramurthy till 1983. Till then Yediyurappa was just a municipal leader in Shikaripura in Shivamogga,” said Vishwanath disputing the claims of the seers that Yediyurappa deserves the credit.
B S Yediyurappa led State Government is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words and deeds. Family politics is spoiling state government, Vishwanath alleged continuing to vent his anguish against the Swamijis.
BJP leader Revanna was present.
