Swachh Survekshan 2020! Mysuru on the top again, secures first rank

Mysuru: Yet again the City of Palaces Mysuru is on the top in clean city rankings. The city is ranked first among the cities with a population of three lakh to 10 lakh in Swachh Survekshan 2020 the results of which were announced on Thursday.
 
 
Mysuru competed with 4000 cities in the country having a population of three hlakh to 10 lakh to bag the top spot. The city fared well mainly in four categories- on sight, evaluation, Innovations and Citizen feedback and solid waste management. 
 
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had organised Swachh Mahothsav a virtual programme of the award ceremony to confer on the winners of Swachh Survekshan -2020 survey.
 
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri declared the winners and interacted with respective civic authorities.
 
In Mysuru the virtual program had been organised in front of the Palace. Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to interact with pourakarmikas, which was rescheduled and MoUHA minister Puri interacted with two pourakarmikas of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Manjula and Nanjundswamy.
 
Apart from this Indore, Surat and Navi Mumbai secured top three ranks respectively in the category of cities with less than one lakh population.
 
Karnataka’s capital city Bengaluru also secured top two ranks in the category of cities with the population of 40 lakh and above. 
 
Mayor Tasneem described it as a proud moment for Heritage City Mysuru.
 
“Here I thank all the pourakrmikas and health and environment sections and whole staff of Mysuru City Corporation team and corporators for achieving the feat again. Un this wake, we will urge state and central government to provide special grants to improve the city. In the present situation, we are competing with the population recorded as per 2011 census report. From next time we will compete in more categories”, she claimed. 
 
MLA SA Ramadass also expressed his happiness and thanked all the staff and pourakarmikas for securing the top rank. 
 
MP Pratap Simha said “it’s a honour to our Mysuru and we are in national race in progressive programmes. MCC will work more and will retain overall top ranking”, Simha added.
