Mysuru:Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), a development organisation working in the region, is offering a scholarship programme to encourage students to take up teacher training courses.
Students who have completed PUC (for Diploma in Elementary Education) or degree (for B. Ed) are eligible for the scholarship, said Praveen Kumar S, deputy CEO and head of the institution at a press meet here on Tuesday.
SVYM believes that future of India is shaped by good, humane and effective teachers and hopes to find them through the scholarship.
Those willing to take up the scholarship will have to write an entrance exam on April 5, 2020 and it will be conducted at 25 centres of the state.
The test will be based on the syllabus of classes 6-8, general knowledge and mental ability. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed and final selection will be held based on the performance in exam and interview.

In fact, SVYM through its Vivekananda Teacher Training and Research Centre (VITRC) has been offering teacher training as the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from 2006 at Hosahalli, H D Kote taluk (near Kabini reservoir).
The college was started with an aim to create humane and reflective teachers for the rural and tribal areas of the state. It continues to be among the very few D.El.Ed colleges in the state which attract talented students. Trained students are placed in reputed schools.
