Suttur Fair! Pair of 50 wrestlers to slug it out on January 25

Mysuru: As part of Suttur Fair, 40th national level wrestling competition has been organised on January 25 at 2 PM at Suttur Sri Kshetra, Nanjangud taluk in the district.
Suttur seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji released the posters of the bouts at Suttur on January 16.
Suttur seer told media ” As many as 50 pairs of wrestlers ( Nada Kusti) will be slugging it out. It includes Marpeet, followed by wrestling between local wrestlers and also from Maharashtra. Earlier, there were ‘Garadi Mane’ the traditional wrestling housea where wrestlers used to regularly practice. Nowadays, the wrestling has found a new patronage during Dasara and fairs. We should encourage such rural practices, that were in vogue earlier to keep the body fit”.
The fair will unfold on January 21 and will be held up to January 26.
Prof Rangappa, Prof Subbappa, Chota Rafeeq, Malluswamy Ganjam, Ravikumar, Pailwan Nikhil.Kumar, Siddaraju, Ravi Bannur, Amrut Purohit, Duggatti Veerabhadrappa, S P Udayshankar, S Shivakumara Swamy and Siddanayak were present.
