Supporting DHO, doctors flay district minister, warn of strike if repeated again

Mysuru: Following the recent dressing down of District Health Officer Dr T Amarnath at a meeting of MLAs chaired by the district minister S T Somashekar, Karnataka State Government Medical Officers Association, Mysuru district unit has come down heavily on the district minister.

Association President Dr Devi Anand told media persons on Monday “District Minister Somashekar recently slammed DHO Dr T Amarnath at a meeting attended by public representatives and officers. The minister used words which are highly condemnable and we want to convey that this is not the way to mend, as especially in this crucial pandemic situation, doctors and health officers are working with a lot of concern and stress. Don’t demoralize them by criticising them in front of others, he warned.

Dr Devi Anand said “with regard to procurement of medicines, no grants are received from the State government. How can anybody hold DHO responsible for any loopholes? he questioned.

If this kind of unconstitutional treatment continues we doctors fraternity will go for a strike, Dr Anand warned again.
