Sunday judgment day? Speaker to decide on MLAs resignation

Bengaluru: Sunday, at least for next one hour will not be as usual for the 11 rebel MLAs of the State.

Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar has convened an emergency media briefing at his office in Vidhana Soudha at 11.30 am.

It has triggered curiosity further with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa set for floor test on July 29.

The speaker is expected to take a call on the resignation of the following MLAs- A H Vishwanath, Gopalaiah and K Narayan Gowda of JD(S), B C Patil, MTB Nagaraj, Byrati Basavaraj, Muniratna, Prathap Patil, Dr K Sudhakar and Shivaram Hebbar of Congress. Another Independent MLA Nagesh has resigned as a minister, but has stayed away from the recent assembly sessions.

Three MLAs- Ramesh Jarkiholi and Mahesh Kumatalli of Congress and R Shankar the independent MLA have been already disqualified for the rest of the term till 2023.
