Stung by Tipu remark, Vishwanath practices ‘mouna vratha’

1 min read

Mysuru: Following the brickbat within the party over his recent remarks on Tipu Sultan, BJP MLC A H Vishwanath has adopted ‘Mouna Vratha’ ( silence).

When the media persons approached Vishwanath on the premises of Suttur mutt in the city, Vishwanath held a diary to convey his message. It had been scribbled in Kannada-E Hotthu Ekadashi, Mouna, Naale Mathanadona ( it’s ekadashi, silence, will speak tomorrow).

Prior to Vishwanath, when media persons asked Mysuru- Kodagu  MP Prathap Simha, the latter had reminded Vishwanath about the history.

Simha felt that ” the influence of the old party (Congress) still seems to be on Vishwanath. Vishwanath should understand history. Who exercised suzherain power against Yadu dynasty of Wadiyars? How can Tipu be called as a freedom fighter or a hero?”, questioned Simha.

Vishwanath had recently called Tipu as ‘Son of the soil’.

Following the remark, BJP leaders including State president Nalin Kumar Kateel had distanced themselves calling it as ‘Vishwanath’s personal opinion, not of the party”.
