Mysuru: A few engineering students of ATME College of Engineering (ATMECE) on Bannur road in the city, who have been allegedly cheated by a college faculty with regard to college fees were allowed to write the semester exam on Tuesday without the hall ticket.

About 200 students had paid college fee and exam fee to Assistant Professor Harshitha N of Department of Electronics and Communication through digital means. But the faculty is now untraceable after collecting nearly Rs 25 lakh leaving students in a lurch. These students have now filed a complaint at Varuna police station.

On Tuesday, the students were allegedly asked to write an undertaking by their principal on repaying the college fees to be allowed to write exam. With no other go, it is alleged, some of the students who had made partial payment to their faculty, gave an undertaking to the principal to make full payment. They were allowed to write exam later, it is alleged.

The students appeared for the exam but without the hall ticket, it is alleged. A few students who have their exam to clear their backlog on Wednesday are requesting the management to give them hall ticket. But so far the college has not responded to them.

Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout for Assistant Professor Harshitha N who cheated the students.
