Strengthening bonds between Running Staff and Their Families: A Seminar at Chamundi Club

Mysuru: A seminar was organized at Chamundi Club on November 15 to strengthen the relationship between the Running Staff of the Railways and their families.
The initiative aimed to recognize the vital support that family members provide to ensure the safe and efficient operation of train services. The seminar, attended by 67 members, focused on raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by Running Staff, promoting family well-being, and fostering mutual understanding between staff and their loved ones.
A special session was delivered by Jyothi Lakshmi, Senior Scientific Officer at CFTRI, who spoke on the importance of a Healthy Diet for Running Staff. Her insightful talk highlighted the significance of balanced nutrition, proper hydration, meal planning during irregular duty hours, and food choices that help maintain alertness, reduce fatigue, and support long-term health. The session provided valuable guidance that will benefit both the Running Staff and their families in making informed dietary choices.
Following this, Dr Prashanth, Divisional Medical Officer Railway Hospital Mysuru, conducted an impactful session on Stress Management. Dr Prashanth elaborated on the causes of stress faced by Running Staff, shared simple relaxation techniques, and emphasized the importance of adequate rest. The session also highlighted how family members can support the mental well-being of their loved ones working in demanding roles.
The seminar was further enriched by an address from Mudit Mittal, DRM Mysuru, who reiterated the core message of the Railways: Safety First, Safety First, Safety First.
Mittal emphasised that safety is a shared responsibility between staff and their families and expressed gratitude for the Running Staff’s invaluable contributions to ensuring smooth train operations. He also took the time to personally interact with the attendees, listen to their grievances and concerns, and assured that every genuine issue would be addressed promptly.
The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed officials, including Shammas Hameed, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Chief Medical superintendent, Senior Divisional Safety officer, Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer/Traction, who interacted with staff and families, responded to queries and offered valuable guidance on safety, health, maintenance and welfare.
