Stop shopping for dogs, give home to homeless pets: Trishika Kumari Wadiyar

Mysuru: Royal family member Trishika Kumari Wadiyar inaugurated an exclusive space for disabled dogs by People For Animals (PFA) here at Roopanagar on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Trishika Kumari Wadiyar expressed her happiness that she was happy to be part of the initiative that cares for disabled dogs. She appealed to people to adopt dogs rather than shop them as Indian hounds are good, healthy and intelligent. “Minimize the shop and give home to homeless pets,” Trishika Kumari Wadiyar urged.

Dr DL Madhavi, who has sponsored the new facility, is a Mysurean but lives in the US. She is a scientist and the proud daughter of prominent Kannada scholar DL Narasimhachar.

Emphasising on the need for an exclusive space for disabled dogs within the enclosure, Savitha Nagabhushan, founder of PFA said disabled dogs could not cope with healthy dogs and they would always be in fear of survival. “So we decided to have a separate enclosure for disabled dogs so that they could live without fear.” The new enclosure has dogs suffering from spinal injury, blindness, age and cataract.

The PFA also held an adoption drive on July 30 and many turned up to give home to many homeless pets. As many as five puppies and five kittens found a new home, said Savitha Nagabhushan.
