Statues of erstwhile Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Sir M V to adorn KRS dam

Mysuru: Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi said “statues of erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and his dewan Sir M Visvesvaraya will be installed at the southern gate entrance of KRS dam in Mandya”.

Jarkiholi who shared the information with scion of erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said that “the works on the installation of statues separately have been taken up at the estimated cost of Rs 8.5 crore. It is intended at paying tributes to the late maharaja and his dewan who were instrumental in building the dam across the river Cauvery. The maharaja had to sell the ornaments to raise funds for the construction of the dam. The Maharaja also built Vani Vilas Sagar dam”.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar who expressed her immense happiness over the ongoing works.wished that all the works of the water resources department are completed and the people are benefitted by it.

Special officer to the minister Rudraiah, PRO Shankar S N, Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Managing Director Jayaprakash and Palace Board Deputy Director T S Subramanya were present.
