State-Level T20 Cricket Tournament in memory of M N Bhagath Simha in city

Mysuru: In memory of its founder, M N Bhagath Simha, Jaihind Cricket Club is organising a State-level T20 Cricket Tournament at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium, Manasagangotri and JSS-SJCE Grounds from March 6 to 9 in the city.

The tournament is officially approved by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

Addressing media persons at Press Club here on Saturday, Pradeep Simha, Secretary, Jaihind Cricket Club emphasised the club’s commitment to promoting cricket and providing a platform for budding cricketers.

“This tournament aims to foster cricket talent and offer a competitive space for emerging players. We are proud to host this event after receiving approval from the Karnataka State Cricket Association,” he said.

The tournament will feature eight teams from across the state: three teams from Mysuru (Jaihind Cricket Club, Jo Jo Cricket Club and Navodaya Cricket Club) and five teams from Bengaluru (Swastik Union Cricket Club, Vijaya Cricket Club, Rajajinagar Cricketers, Cambridge Cricket Club and Bangalore Occassionals). These teams will compete for the prestigious title.

Among the players, several well-known figures from various levels of cricket will participate, including former Ranji Trophy players and those representing state teams in different age groups. Some notable players to watch include Smaran R, Vidyadhar Pal, Kranthi Kumar, Naveen M G, Darshan M B, Gowtham Sagar, Kumar L R, Lochan Appanna, Prakhar Chaturvedi, Shubhang Hegde, Dheeraj Gowda (U19 Karnataka captain), Karthik S U, Vishal Onat, Sujay Sateri, Rohan Pal, Nihal Ullal, Ishaan S, Samit Dravid, Kruthik Krishna and Shreyas B M.

The tournament format includes group stages, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals and final will take place on March 9.

The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh.

Individual awards will also be given, with the best batsman, bowler, all-rounder, and fielder each receiving Rs 10,000.

In addition, every match will have a “Man of the Match” award, offering a cash prize of Rs 2,000.

The tournament will officially kick off on March 6 at 8 am and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on March 9 at 5 pm.

Members of Jaihind CC, Pratap Simha, Kiran Gopal and Yeshwanth were also present.
