Bengaluru: As many as 195 taluks have been listed under drought-hit taluks of the total 236 taluks in the State. Among 195, 161 are severely-hit taluks and 34 are partially drought-hit taluks.
The State government, on Thursday, released a list of drought-hit taluks in the State. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that these taluks have been chosen by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) as per the prescribed parameters.
The list will be sent to the Centre to seek drought relief.
In Mysuru district all eight taluks, Mysuru, Narasipura, Nanjangud, HD Kote, Sargur, Saligrama, Hunsur and Periyapatna have been included in the list. In Mandya also seven taluks Mandya, Malavalli, Nagamangala, KR Pete, Srirangpatna, Padavapura and Maddur have been declared drought hit. In neighboring Hassan Arkalgud taluk has been identified as drought hit. Similarly, in Kodagu district, Madikeri, Virajpet and Kushalnagar have been identified as drought hit.
