State government releases Rs 319 crore for Mysuru Airport expansion works

Mysuru: A week after the announcement to release Rs 319 crore towards the expansion and upgradation works of Mysuru Airport at Mandakalli, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has kept his word.

The State Government has issued a Government Order in this regard on April 16, in compliance with the opinion of finance department.

Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha who had raised the pertinent demand to expand the runway to facilitate the operation of air buses and Boeing planes, has thanked Cooperation and District incharge Minister S T Somashekar and Housing and Infrastructure Minister V Somanna in this regard.

According to the GO, ” the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) should acquire required 240 acres land and hand over to KSIIDC the nodal agency which will hand it over to Airports Authority of India (AAI). Of the required land 206.22 acres of land is already in the possession of KIADB. The compensation towards acquired land is Rs 1.5 crore per acre ( temporary land vaĺue) that will be total Rs 309.84 crore (Rs 309,84,37,500) and three per cent service charge of KIADB as per the consent of finance department will be Rs 9.29 crore (Rs 9, 29,53,125) totalling Rs 319 crore ( Rs 319,13,90,625)”.

The project will be implemented as per the agreement with AAI on October 06, 2005. The charges towards land acquisition for this project will be paid under the head of development of minor airports according to 2022-23 budget.
