‘Sri Sinema Loka’ summer camp concludes

Mysuru: ‘ Sri Sinema Loka ‘ a summer camp organised at Ursu Boarding School Ground on K R Boulevard in the city concluded recently.

In the month long camp that was attended by 15 children in different age groups, the children were taught various forms of folk arts like- songs, kamsale, puja kunita, dollu kunita, mime and nuances of theatre.

It was also for the first time the summer camp was organised and was a huge success.

Participating in the valedictory session, University of Mysore Vice- chancellor Prof G Hemanth Kumar said ‘When most of the students are behind academic success to score better marks, such camps will help in honing the skills of children in extra-curricular activities. In those days, when we grew up as children Desi games were the highlight’.

Bharati Sridhar Raje Urs, the chief guest said ‘ It’s the duty of younger generation to preserve Desi arts’.

B N Yashoda, HoD, political science, Maharaja’s College praised the organisers who are incidentally the alumni of Maharaja’s College. They are also the research scholars of the varsity and folk artistes, she said.

The name ‘ Sri Sinema Loka’ is derived from the first letter of the names of organisers- Srikanth M N, Siddaraju, Dr Ningaraju Thottavadi, Dr Madhusudhan Poorigali and Lokesh I D Shakyaputra.

Prof M Rudraiah principal of Yuvaraja’s College was present.
