Sri Chamundeshwari Vardhanthi Utsav celebrated atop Chamundi Hills

Mysuru: Sri Chamundeshwari Vardhanthi Utsav was celebrated with festive fervor atop Chamundi Hills on Monday.
The temple was decorated with flowers and fruits for the occasion, which falls on the Ashada month. Royal Scion, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and his wife Trishika Kumari Devi Wadiyar visited the temple and offered puja to the presiding deity, Sri Chamundeshwari. They also pulled a golden chariot to mark the occasion.
Vardhanthi or in other words, the birthday of the Goddess is celebrated on the auspicious Revathi Nakshatra in Ashada. On this day, the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari was installed and consecrated in 1820 by Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and Vardhanti is celebrated to commemorate the day, said Royal Scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
