Special Vaccination Drive every Wednesday! Aim to make Bengaluru first metro city to complete vaccination for all

Bengaluru: “Special Vaccination Drive will be conducted on every Wednesday aiming to vaccinate 10 lakh people on that day,” said Health & Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar.

District wise vaccination coverage till August 30

He was speaking to the media here on Monday.

Centre has provided 1.10 crore vaccines in the month of August. The supply has increased after chief minister and myself had a discussion with the centre. We are aiming to vaccinate five lakh people everyday from now onwards.

On Wednesday during special vaccination drive the target is to vaccinate at least 10 lakh people. This will ensure 1.5 to 2 crore doses in one month. We are aiming to make Bengaluru the first metro city to complete vaccination for all its eligible residents, said the Minister.

While 4 crore vaccination has been completed in the entire state including 1 crore in the BBMP limits. Measures will be initiated to increase the numbers in Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur and Kalaburagi districts. A special drive will be conducted for slum dwellers everyday which will enable the staff to conduct the drive at every slums.

Also priority is given to border districts of Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and villages within 20 kms in border districts will be accorded priority. Our aim is to fully vaccinate the entire eligible population by December, said Dr Sudhakar.

Schools and colleges have been opened in the state for ninth, 10th and PUC students. Discussion has been done to open primary schools as well. Government will arrive to a decision soon in this regard. Student’s future is also the responsibility of the government. Parents are also demanding to reopen the schools. Since there is are no reports of infection after reopening physical classes for high school and PU students, we are confident enough to go ahead for the primary level as well, said the Minister.

Covid guidelines have been issued for all the festivals. Even Government does not want to restrict any celebrations, but the decision has to be taken according to the situation. It is our duty to keep in mind welfare of all the citizens. Everyone should respect and follow the guidelines. We are confident that the situation will be under control after all these difficult circumstances, said Dr Sudhakar.

Mobile number for Vaccination

The same number used during registering first dose of vaccination should be provided while registering for second dose as well. Otherwise, the information will mismatch and final certificate will not be generated, he said.

PHANA has submitted a report to tackle third wave. Government will discuss its suggestions with the technical advisory committee. We will implement all the suggestions. Government is well prepared to tackle a possible third wave, said the Minister.
